Licensed Professional Counselor
Candice received a Bachelor’s of Science in psychology from Troy University. Around this time, she and her husband decided to become foster parents. One day, while reading yet another file on a foster child, she began to notice so many of the stories started with parents having mental health issues or coming from abusive backgrounds themselves. This made her wonder how much better it would be if people could get help to break the cycle in their lives before getting to such a point.
By this time Candice was an adoptive parent of two children with ADHD and one with developmental delays and sensory issues. In addition, she was a military spouse and had two stepchildren. She realized she had experience in so many different aspects of life that it only made sense to use that knowledge to help others rather than sitting on the sidelines.
Candice returned to school and obtained a Master’s Degree in Marriage and Family Counseling from the University of Montevallo. In addition, she has received training in Trust-Based Relational Intervention (TBRI), an intervention used to treat children who have experienced trauma, and has extensive training in play therapy. She is an Associate Licensed Counselor, as well as a National Certified Counselor, and specializes in blended families, adoption and military issues.
